Troupe

The Mt. Carmel Dance Troupe are the performance and competitive dance team at Mt. Carmel High School, who represent Sundevil pride year round. This talented group of young women help support the athletic programs at Mt. Carmel in addition to entertaining their peers at pep rallies, school assemblies, and football and basketball half times. Throughout the year, members of Dance Troupe not only remain loyal to their countless hours of Troupe, but are committed to their training at local dance studios.

Our year begins with a 3-day audition process in May, when soon after our summer picks up! During the summer, the girls attend dance camp and prepare our upcoming football game routines, as well as audition for competition dances. In the fall and winter, we are kept busy with football games and pep rallies, preparing for our annual winter concert, and if that was not enough, perfecting competition routines. January-March, the Dance Troupe represents MC in the high school dance team competitive circuit all the way to Nationals in Anaheim. Our year wraps up with Spring Concert, as we bid a bittersweet farewell to our seniors.

Aside from performances and competitons, MCDT has recently attended dance conventions (CoDance & PULSE), professional dance shows, and are looking forward to connecting with local college dance programs. In our 2008-2009 school year, we were proud to announce an addition to our MCDT family…our 1st ever ALL MALE hip hop team, co-directed by KJ Gonzalez. Time flies when you are on your toes…literally! MCDT has worked hard over the past couple years to “reinvent” and evolve our program to be the best it can be. We continue to jump through hoops as the girls are constantly re-evaluating the importance of dance in our lives, as it shapes who we are both on and off the dance floor.
